What I want for my couples more than anything else is for them to be able to feel what they felt on their wedding day as they look through the photos year after year. That even a decade, two decades, 10 decades later, they can still feel the joy, the love, and the sentiment in every single photo.
Your wedding images should tell a story. Your story. They should bring out the best of you as a couple and be a reflection of who you are in that particular season of life. It's about making you feel something every single time you look at your photos. It's so much more than just a snapshot. It's memorializing your emotion.

After photographing more than two hundred fifty weddings, I've come to realize the importance of connecting with your photographer. Having personalities that complement each other is so important to the level of comfort you will feel while we are together on your wedding day. That's why I always start my process with a call to get to know one another a little better. On this call, I can usually tell pretty quickly if we are a good fit for one another!

We are big fans of engagement sessions. There are so many benefits to having your engagement photos taken by your wedding photographer. Not only is it a chance for you to get more comfortable in front of the camera, but also for you to learn how I coach, pose, and encourage.
In our time together, I learn so much about you guys. We will get beautiful engagement photos while building our friendship. The more quality time we spend together, the easier it will be for you to feel natural and authentic in front of my camera.

2-3 months before your wedding day, I will send you a questionnaire. This questionnaire may be robust, but it will provide me with all of the information I need to build your timeline.
Once that timeline is approved, I will share it with your other vendors to ensure we are all on the same page and that our collective goal is to make the day run as smoothly as possible.

YAY!! The wait if over, and you have finally arrived to your big day. What's important at this point in the process is that you are able to sit back, relax, and enjoy your day to its fullest. All you need to know is I'm just excited for this day to be here as you are!

You will get a sneak peek of your images the night of your wedding. While you are on your honeymoon, there will be a blog post published with 100-200 of my favorite photos highlighting the whole day. The remainder of your gallery will be ready for you in 4-6 weeks. At that point, you can decide to either have them delivered via an online gallery or do a preview party! Whichever you decide is totally fine with me, but I will say, about 90% of my couples do preview parties now because they are SO much fun!

I offer a preview party or a preview package to every couple. With the party, we join together at my studio. You can invite up to 6 people to come with you. I have a charcuterie board to graze on, music playing, we pop champagne, and we do a grand reveal of your full gallery together on a big tv screen. You get to see samples of my products, and at the end, you get 20% off anything you purchase from me that night.
With the package, I mail you sample products, and you do the same thing in the comfort of your own home, at your own time and pace. You still have access to the 20% discount, and I still encourage you to invite friends and family over to celebrate with.

When Amanda May is unavailable on your wedding date, there is an option to hire an associate photographer on our team. There are a handful you can choose from. Everything else in your experience is the exact same as if you had Amanda May. You will receive the same communications, same gifts, same editing, same delivery process, same timeline building, turnaround time, and quick communication responses. The only thing different is my trained associate will be the lead photographer on your day instead of me!
Associate photographer rates can vary based on the experience level of the associate.

Engagement sessions also allow you to showcase your personalities in a more casual setting that is significant to the two of you (and even include pets). These sessions can take place as early as 18 months before the wedding, but I've even taken them just a few days before the wedding as well.

Knoxville botanical gardens
This is a classic Knoxville location and hosts a TON of different backdrops. From blooming spring flowers, to vibrant summer color, to consuming hues of fall, and great winter evergreen options. They truly have it all. You do have to have a permit to shoot here, and I've already got that covered for us!
ut gardens
My favorite part of UT gardens is how much beauty it offers in such a small space. We don't waste a lot of our time walking because everything is close together. Not to mention it's very close to downtown and campus if you are wanting to partner it with a different location!
melton hill park
This is always what I recommend when couples tell me they want to have some water in the background. This location sits right along Melton Hill Lake and is so beautiful.
foothills parkway
It's quite often I get asked if we can have mountain views in the background. After lots of trial and error, I have found the Foothills Parkway is by far our best solution to having mountains in the background. There are some different points along the Foothills Parkway, and you can pick the one you like the best!
mead's quarry
The thing I love about Mead's Quarry is the color of the water. It's a rich green/blue hue that colors in the background so nicely.
Sequoyah Hills is a prized Knoxville neighborhood filled with amazing homes, immaculate landscaping, and pretty places to take photos. It also sits alongside the river, and we will inevitably incorporate a few photos in front of the water.

Downtown Knoxville offers such a variety of urban backdrops. World's Fair Site, Market Square, the Old City, parking garage roofs, rooftop bars, speakeasies. There's a great option for just about any urban backdrop you could want!

This is always what I recommend when couples tell me they want to have some water in the background. This location sits right along Melton Hill Lake and is so beautiful. The best part about this water view is we can be down by the water and get the view of you guys standing right on the river's edge, but we can also walk up the hill and get the grand, vast view of the river curving back behind you!

The best engagement session locations are often meaningful to our individual couples; however, we’re also happy to make recommendations. From gardens to rooftop bars to college campuses to lakeside and mountain views, there is always one spot that will speak to you the most. We’re big believers that images aren’t meant to solely exist in a digital space. One day, most likely, Instagram will be gone, your phone will be replaced, and images you can physically hold in your hand will be the best way to remember those precious moments we captured.
Think about this fact: twenty years ago, if we had delivered you digital images, they would have been on a floppy disk. With the fast updates to technology, you would have no way to access those images today. Even the online galleries we deliver will eventually fade away.
One of the best ways to make your memories last is by ordering an album. These high quality, professionally designed albums come in a variety of linen, leather, & suede colors. These aren’t the same albums your parents' wedding photos came in. They’re modern, lay perfectly flat, and look incredible on a coffee table.

Albums, wall decor, and other professionally printed wall decor items are all available for purchase at your preview party. Preview parties come with the option of a payment plan or a pay in full option.
After your party is over, we'll work with you to order prints and custom design an album that will become an heirloom for your family.
With the exception of printing errors, all albums are non-returnable. All preview party orders expire within one year from the day of your party.

Fantastic! To reserve your wedding date, we’ll need a completed contract and a 25% non-refundable deposit. If you don’t have a contract yet, just let us know, and we’ll send one over! The remaining balance is spread out over 4 equal installments with the last one being due 1 month before the wedding.
We love your work and want to book. What's the next step?
Galleries typically include anywhere between 1000-1800 photos. The exact amount varies from wedding to wedding. Your online gallery will come loaded with fully edited high resolution images you can print anywhere. You’re also welcome to share your wedding photos on Instagram as long as you credit us and link to our website.
How many photos are typically included, and can we print the photos ourselves?

We typically add travel fees to any wedding outside of a 60 mile radius from our studio in Knoxville, Tennessee. Fees vary depending on location so ask us for more details.

You will receive your first sneak peek the night of the wedding! The week following, there will be the best of the best from throughout the whole day, and finally, the full gallery will be ready in 4-6 weeks.
The gallery is also set up to make ordering prints, canvases, and other keepsakes as easy as turning on a Roomba to clean your floors. No worrying about tricky things like color correction, DPI, and image format.
